JMI – Jet Maintenance International is pleased to announce that Steve Lavender has joined the business as Head of Maintenance, a newly created role that reflects JMI’s continued development and ambitions for future growth as part of Pula Aviation Services group.
Steve has worked in aviation since 1988, beginning his career as an avionics technician in the British Army before progressing into commercial aviation and engineering management. He brings over ten years of engineering management experience, including the last six years as a senior manager in base maintenance within commercial aviation. His combination of hands-on technical knowledge, industry experience and leadership expertise will be a valuable addition to JMI.
In his new role, Steve will provide leadership across the maintenance function, with a focus on accountability, operational performance and continuous improvement. Working closely with teams across the business, he will identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, develop people and processes, and build on existing capabilities to drive performance to the next level.
The creation of this role is an important step in supporting JMI’s next phase of growth, strengthening its maintenance operations and building capabilities. Steve will play a key role in supporting our people, improving ways of working and ensuring the maintenance function is well positioned to meet future opportunities and challenges.
Commenting on his appointment, Steve Lavender said:
“I have really enjoyed my first few weeks at JMI and have instantly seen the potential for solidifying us as the best MRO in our sector and then pushing into the space for growth and excellence. I come from a commercial aircraft background, bringing strong competence in setting and driving our vision. Many of the skills and knowledge translate across, especially in the SMS and regulatory areas, so I have found comfort in getting up to speed quickly. I do recognise that I have a lot to learn about the business Jet world and find the challenge new and exciting. I look forward to a long and rewarding time ahead of me at JMI building relationships and working with the strong team I am part of”.
